Amity University policies and procedures for transfer and applicability of course credits to a degree programme shall depend on the student's experience at the other institution. The contents, scope, relevance and quality of credit course taken in recognized/accredited programs must be commensurate with the experience of students in similar courses offered by Amity University.

The Course work of comparable content and scope to the Amity University curriculum will generally be transferred if it was completed at institutions or universities approved by UGC/Ministry of higher education and other relevant national approving.

Authorities or national/international associations/accreditation bodies at the time the course was completed. For international colleges or universities, the international equivalent of AIU will be considered.

Credit Transfer Categories

The student may be given the credit transfer during their program of study under following categories:

1. Credit transfer from One Institution to Another Institution within AUT.

2. Credit transfer from other Amity Universities.

3. Credit transfer from other Institutions/Universities in India/Abroad.

4. Credit transfer from Corporate/Professionals/Practitioners/R&D organizations.

5. Credit transfer under Students exchange/study abroad programs.

The students are required to take prior approval of competent Authority before taking-up any courses outside of their institution/program.

Credit Transfer Requirements

a. Only official transcripts from other Institutions/Universities may be considered to evaluate and decide the credit value for the program.

b. The basic policy regarding the acceptance of the courses by transfer is to allow credit for courses completed with satisfactory grades (C or better) in other accredited colleges provided the courses correspond in time and content to courses offered at AUT.

c. AUT assumes responsibility for the academic quality of any work or credit recorded on the University's transcript.

d. AUT reserves the right to test the proficiency of any student in course work transferred from other institutions and to disallow credit in courses in which the student fails to demonstrate acceptable proficiency.

Transfer Credit Procedures:

Procedure for students seeking admission to AUT

The Office of Director (Admission) AUT evaluates all undergraduate, post-secondary school education presented from outside the Amity University for acceptance to the University.

The Equivalence Committee of University determines the appropriateness and applicability of accepted courses to a specific degree program. The applicability of any qualification for admission to any degree program is determined by the Equivalence Committee provided, however, that the committee takes into consideration the stipulations of statutory authority, if any.

Lateral Entry: In the event of allowing students under lateral entry to a program, the stipulations of statutory authority shall be followed. The cases, not covered under any statutory body, shall be taken up through Equivalence Committee.

Non-acceptance of Transfer of Credit

The following are some of the circumstances under which non-resident credit is NOT granted:

• Courses basically of level other than the degree enrolled for. For example, credits earned in the courses of UG level, cannot be accepted for transfer to the courses of PG level.

• Courses with essentially non-academic content.

• Learning support courses.

• Non-resident credit is not computed as a part of the student's grade point average.

•  No credit will be granted for continuing education unit courses, courses taken on-line, correspondence, independent study or any course less than 5 weeks and/or 15 contact hours per credit.

• Any other circumstances emerged at the time of processing the application/requests for credit transfer by Director of Campus/Equivalence Committee or Competent Authority.

Required Documentation for Transfer of Credit

• All course work presented for transfer must appear on an official transcript sent directly from the original teaching institution to the office of the Director, Academics at Amity University.

• Copies, facsimiles transcripts will not be accepted.

• All foreign transcripts, not issued in English, must have an accompanying translation certified by the original transcribing institution, the governmental education agency of the host country, the Indian Embassy of the host country or a professional translation service approved by Amity University.

• Foreign institutions that provide only one original document certifying attendance, course of instruction, and achievement should be asked to mail the certifying documents directly to Amity University. The originals will be retained until credit transfer has been completed. Certified copies will be retained for the student’s record, and the originals will be returned to the student.
